I’m Jade Wright, a Cape Town–based Interior Design student with a strong focus on concept-driven and contextually responsive design. My work is rooted in a long-standing connection to nature, which began in childhood and has grown into a deeper interest in conservation and environmental sensitivity. This perspective continues to shape how I approach design – not just as a process of creating spaces, but as a way of responding to place, ecology, and human experience

I have always been drawn to helping – whether people, animals, or the environment – and this instinct carries through into my work. I am particularly interested in how interior spaces can support wellbeing, offering environments that feel considered, immersive, and emotionally attuned to those who inhabit them.

After my first year of study, I chose to explore this connection to nature more intentionally by diving deeper into biomimicry, incorporating it into my second- and third-year projects as a way of informing both concept and form.

A consistent thread across my work is a focus on nature- and location-driven concepts. I draw from specific landscapes, ecosystems, and histories, translating these into spatial experiences. Each of my projects responds directly to its context, resulting in spaces that feel grounded, intentional, and unique to their setting.

While my studies are rooted in interior design, I am equally interested in the form, silhouette, and exterior expression of buildings, particularly at a conceptual level. I enjoy exploring how an idea can extend beyond the interior to inform the overall architectural presence, ensuring a cohesive relationship between inside and out. My strengths lie in being conceptually driven, allowing ideas to guide decisions across both spatial and formal design

I am particularly interested in hospitality, retreat, and experiential design, where the atmosphere of a space plays a central role. My work often explores how materials, light, and spatial sequencing can shape how a space is experienced over time, creating environments that feel calm and cohesive, while still offering depth and variation.

Alongside conceptual development, I work confidently in AutoCAD and Revit, with experience in Twinmotion and Photoshop for visualisation and presentation. I place strong emphasis on ensuring that ideas are not only conceptually clear, but also technically resolved and buildable.

My approach to design is thoughtful and intentional, aiming to create spaces that are both meaningful and responsive – spaces that quietly support the people and environments they are part of.
